sports injuries - sprains, strains and
contusions
arthritic conditions - osteoarthritis
OA
sciatica
neuropathies
temporalmandibular joint dysfunction TMJ
fibromyalgia FMS
plantar fasciitis
tennis elbow
carpal tunnel syndrome CTS

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Do not use with pace makers, or when other
electrical implants are present!
Pain syndromes where the etiology has
not been established
pregnancy
demand type cardiac pacemakers
wound infections
through malignant or benign tumors
through the eyeball
through carotid sinus
osteomyelitis
over laryngeal musculature
over the thorax intersecting the heart
presence of topical substances containing
metal ions
Wounds require thorough flushing of all
metal ions prior to electro stimulation.
ACTION:
Inflammed tissue if left untreated can
cause a number of painful chronic and acute
conditions. Injured tissue exhibits an
increase in bio-electrical impedance slowing
down the healing process. Transport of
nutrients to and wastes from the cells
becomes compromised causing inflammation.
CellStim's waveform penetrates
through the impedance barrier enhancing
the body's own restorative properties
resulting in an acceleration of the healing
process.
Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is the main
energy molecule essential for cellular
regeneration.
Ngok Cheng M.D. (1982) applied electric
currents in the range of 100 to 500 uA
and discovered increases of ATP, glycine
incorporation and aminoisobutyric acid
uptake in the proteins of living tissue.
Current levels above 750 uA began to
diminish ATP production.
The increased ATP levels promote protein
and collagen synthesis in human
fibroblasts, resulting in an increased
rate of tissue regeneration of 150%-350%.
WARNINGS:
Do not use with pace makers, or when other
electrical implants are present!
Proper hydration (drink extra water),
is essential for optimal effect.
The CellStim includes re-useable carbon
rubber electrode pads.
Allergic reactions are reported by less
than 1% of patients. (self-adhesive
electrode pads supplied if specified)
Due to the sensitivity of the carotid
sinuses to electrical interference and the
possibility of carotid sinus reflex, the
patient should be warned to adhere to
prescribed protocols. Incorrect polarity
application of positive or negative
monophasic current may result in exacerbation
of symptoms of nerve root origin.
The CellStim may suppress the sensation
of pain which otherwise serves as a
protective mechanism.
Electronic monitoring equipment (such
as ECG and ECG alarms) may not operate
properly when microcurrent stimulation
is in use.
PRECAUTIONS:
Patients should be instructed on the following:
Carry over effect of CellStim treatments
and the regenerative advantages.
Importance of proper skin contact to electrode
pads.
Patients that are dehydrated may experience
nausea, light-headedness,
and headaches.
USE IN PREGNANCY:
The safety of microcurrent use in pregnancy
has not been established. The
benefits of using microcurrent when pregnancy
is confirmed or suspected must
be weighed against possible hazards.
USE DURING LACTATION:
No specific studies have been conducted
on electro stimulation changes to breast
milk and their effect on the infant.
USE ON CHILDREN:
The efficacy and safety of microcurrent
on children under the age of 5 years
has not been studied.
USE WITH OTHER DRUGS:
No adverse reactions have been recorded
to date when combined with drugs.
However, due to the importance of hydration
with any form of electrotherapy,
patients that are receiving diuretics
should be carefully monitored.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
Dosages vary according to the specific
protocols administered in microcurrent
therapy. Typical dosage consists of .5
to 2 hour applications 1 to 4 times per day.
To date there have been no reports of
overdose.
