Know The Unknown - Part 3

Last time I promised to tell you all about ASTROLOGICAL PLANETS. With this, I don't mean to say that ASTRONOMICAL PLANETS are any different. The only difference is, "How we look at them?" In astronomy, only the physical attributes & the chemical compositions are taken into account. Whereas, in Astrology, we give a definite "Character" to them. We treat them like "Divine Beings". They are being briefly described below:
THE SUN: - Ruler of the East, King of the planetary kingdom, with all the 'royal qualities' Kshatriya by caste. Has a squarish body, scanty but curly hair. Medium stature, red eyes, and strong bones. It represents father in a horoscope. It also represents bile, right eye, and bones in your body. It obscures the influence of the other planets (except Rahu & Ketu) which are in its close proximity. It also represents the government & our Soul. Its abode is the mountain.
THE MOON: - Ruler of North West direction, It is another royal planet. It is graceful, fair beautiful, but with a weak body. It symbolizes mother. It represents the digestive organs, left eye and governs our mind. It is white in color, represents luxuries of artistic kind and its abode is water. She is female in all its attributes.
MARS: - Ruler of the South. He is the Commander-in-Chief of the planets. Mars is valiant, aggressive, arrogant, and cruel in nature. Red in color, it represents the blood marrow, eruptions, and musculature in our body. He is fickle but generous. He is a major cause of marital disharmony. It also represents siblings. Heat, summer, burns, fire are under the control of Mars. He is all male.
MERCURY: - The Ruler of the Northern direction. This youthful planet denotes discriminative learning like logic, math, mantras, poetry, oratory, astrology, education, etc. It also denotes business of agency type. Although considered eunuch, he is intelligent having a slim, dark, youthful body with balanced limbs. He is easily influenced by planets that are close to him. He rules over our brain, nerves, skin, speech and our discriminative qualities.
JUPITER: - Ruler of the North East. He is the Guru of the Devas. Higher intellect, philosophical learning, righteous conduct and everything that is noble comes under his jurisdiction. On the material level, he signifies wealth, earned righteously. He is masculine in nature. He rules over the fat of our body and also the liver and gall bladder. He has a phlegmatic disposition. His dress is yellow and he has a large fat body, pale eyes, brown hair and fair complexion. He is the best natural benefic planet.
VENUS: - Ruler of the South East. She is the Guru of the Asuras. She rules over fine art, romance, adultery, marriage, grace, dance, music, singing, and things of fine living. She has a very sexy appearance with brown complexion, lovely eyes, broad chest and has excessive seminal fluid. She is wise and is also interested in scriptures. Any affliction to her is adverse to marital harmony. In our body she represents disease of sexual nature, eye, urinary, and the intestines. She is the best benefic planet for material gains.
SATURN: - Ruler of the West and the most dreaded of them all. He is a hermit. Like Mercury, he too is a eunuch. He is the planet of delay, not deny. His period of "Sade Sati" sends chills down our spines, for he signifies misery, chronic ill health, humiliation, distress, sorrow and death. He is the significator of longevity. He has a weak, lean, dark, tall body. His abode is "Shamshaan". He is the worst malefic because he is the planet of detachment from all worthy comforts. Hence, he is the best for the spiritual advancements. Some even call him "Brahmin" among planets. He rules over dry regions of our body, and Death. He is also responsible for suddenness of events, e.g. accidents.
There are two more in the planetary kingdom who cannot be over looked. Although technically not planets, in our "Navagraha" they hold a very effective and key position. They are "Rahu & Ketu". The Dragon's head and the tail. They rule in the South West direction. Rahu, bodiless, is a "Chandaal", whereas "Ketu", the headless, is the "Brahimin" planet. According to their nicknames they have their properties. They have a smoky blue complexion. Either one afflicting any planet, has a strong separtive effect. Both are highly malefic planets, but sometimes, even they give in to yield good results I.e. only if they are posited in certain HOUSES in a horoscope. HOUSES?? About houses - next time.
