Know The Unknown - Part 1

As far back as man can remember, there has been a constant endeavor on his part to KNOW those things which his power of thought and speculation can't reach out to.  It has always been his keen effort to penetrate the barriers that separate the world of reality from the mysterious realm of the supernatural.  But, down the line we earthlings have missed out on some threat somewhere.  "Are these occult things real? "  Does it have any scientific basis?  Can these forces solve problems?  The queries become endless.

This article is an introduction to a series of articles which will bring out, on a scientific basis, the hidden mysteries of what we generally call the UNKNOWN.  It will be my humble effort to re-introduce the knowledge of the ancient Indian sages, who have been the plinth and the pillar of what we today proudly call the Indian Cultural Heritage.

It is quite safe to affirm that no pastime in the history of the world has exercised such a deep and fascination over the mind of man as Astrology.  In common terms, fortune telling.  Everybody wants to know - "What lies ahead?"  Some of them only admit to the keenness others avail of the services only during times of adversity.  Till then, the latter call it 'superstition'.

To introduce my dear readers to these heavenly sciences, I have to make a humble request for which the Holy Bibles give the best clue.  It says, "Unless yea be as a child, yea shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.

Astrology is a scientific art.  It involves the casting of a horoscope chart according to one's date, place, and time of birth; and subsequently telling the person his course of life.

A horoscope is also a tool, a means, by virtue of which one can bridge the gap between one's "Fate" and one's "Freewill".  It is a science because it entails detailed knowledge of mathematics and interstellar astro forces of the planets and the zodiac.  And, it is an art, because it is the predictive part of astrology, it is the interpretation that comes into play.  Like any other art form the interpretations are on the subtle plane, and not on the gross plane.

There are basically 2 kinds of astrology, the western and the Indian.  The earlier is based on the 'sun' sign, and the Indian is based on the 'moon' sign.  The sun changes its phase every 365 1/4 days, whereas, the moon changes every 15 days.  Hence, our Indian astrology is much more accurate then its western counterpart.

In our next article, I shall tell you the very crux of the field.  What does a horoscope entail?  To what extent should a person depend on a horoscope?  What are its advantages and pitfalls.  And, finally, if there are any problems, can they be solved?

And, so dear friends, let me take you on a voyage of different facets of this mysterious universe.

Till then, ---------"Shubham".
